Meet my family : )

One of my goals of this new blog is to start including more "lifestyle" photos that I take of my friends and family.  It's these photos that I'm most inspired by because they capture the real life day to day moments that I want so badly to remember and to share with my children as they grow older.  They may not all be technically correct and everyone may not look as perfect as they'd like, but the images and the moments they capture are real.

Everyone needs one or two photos every year or so where the family is dressed nicely and smiling at the camera, but when you look at those photos 10, 15, 20 years down the road, what memories will be inspired?  Yes you'll remember what each member of your family looked like on that particular day in time, by you'll also remember the photographer making crazy noises to get everyone to look at the camera...you'll remember the stress of trying to organize and coordinate outfits for the family...you'll remember kid A throwing a temper tantrum because he/she didn't have her favorite toy, you'll remember kid B jumping into a mud puddle 5 minutes before you had to leave for the shoot and having to reclean and redress kid B, you'll remember your husband pouting because he's missing his favorite team's football game on tv, you'll remember your wife going mildly insane beacuse noone is as happy as she NEEDS them to be to for this photo shoot.  Whew!

My point of all that rambling is to encourage you to get more photos of your day to day life.  Photos that you look at and recall the excitement your child was feeling, the silliness of a moment, the love your family has for one another.  Hire someone to spend a few hours at the beach wth you or at your child's birthday party or simply playing around the house.  If you have DSLR, learn how to use it off of the auto settings and try to capture the beauty that happens each day in your life.  You'll be amazed at how much your photos remind you of what you've forgotten.

All that being said, here's a share from my family vacation this summer.  We had some very dear friends from England come visit so we rented a house out on Vilano beach and made soooo many beautiful memories.

Nothing like dinner on an oceanfront porch.
Brain freeze!
Yep, I do make it into a picture every now and then.
Early morning workout with the guys.

It's amazing to me how she can be stalking an earthworm one minute and then be the ultimate girly girl the next.
The looks on their faces pretty much sums up life with a nearly 4 year old.
Make-up play with Aunt Kelly.
My turn.  Amazing what a "little" bronzer can do : )
Sunrise our final morning on the beach.
